The school campus, before being a simple building, is a complex system of internal and external public spaces, which metabolize – considering the territory as a palimpsest – traces, infrastructure and subdivisions, which become materials to redeem the existing .
The new building articulates different parts to confirm, both the order imposed by the programmatic mechanism, both to embrace and retrain the contact areas, transforming them into public spaces: this Is the case of the current parking area of the sports park, that is the connection space between sports park, school campus and the city center, and is also the point of entrance to the schools, the gyms, the auditorium, the equipment that can be – separately- used by citizens.
If we consider these space having a central role and not simply as residuals, let design specific urban thresholds and to enrich the all project with further interesting elements.
At the base of the project there is the effort to upgrade the school building typology that here becomes a system structured by serving spaces with paths, halls, galleries and passages turned into public places, real urban areas.
Even if the project proposes an urban landscape, and even if it dialogues with the existing, it presents an anti-organicist vision and it doesn’t renounce to be an autonomous and well-distinct shape in the territory.
